San Antonio Regional Campus

The San Antonio Experience

The San Antonio Regional Campus offers public health students individualized and unique learning opportunities. SARC is the largest and oldest of the regional campuses and has graduated over 700 students. Our campus is located just minutes from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Our facilities include three classrooms, a library, laboratory, computer lab, conference room, student lounge, and our faculty and staff offices. Parking is widely available and free of charge. All our classrooms are equipped with videoconferencing (ITV) technology, which allows our students to take courses and workshops offered at the other University of Texas School of Public Health (UTSPH) campuses. All UTSPH-Houston resources are available to students, as well as access to all UTHSCSA student services, including access to the state-of-the-art Briscoe Library.

Strategically located in the South Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in South Texas, the San Antonio Regional Campus provides students with unlimited possibilities of collaboration. The South Texas Medical Center houses The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, its schools, and many of its affiliated hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. The strong military presence in San Antonio and the proximity of Brooke Army Medical Center, one of the Army’s largest medical care facilities, exposes students to the intricacies of the military healthcare system. Additionally, San Antonio’s central location in Texas and geographical proximity to both Austin and the Lower Rio Grande Valley gives students the flexibility to focus on health topics unique to those areas.

San Antonio is a great place to live as well as study. The second largest city in Texas, and the seventh largest in the nation, San Antonio’s cost of living is one of the lowest among major US cities. In addition to health care and national defense, San Antonio has a rapidly growing economy that includes biotechnology and manufacturing. San Antonio is rich with natural beauty, history and charm, while residents enjoy all the comforts and culture of a major metropolis. Cultural attractions include the city’s many museums, the San Antonio Symphony, the San Antonio Spurs basketball team, and arguably the best Mexican cuisine in the state. Residents also enjoy the city’s many recreational attractions such as the Alamo and Riverwalk center, theme parks like Sea World and Fiesta Texas, and outdoor activities including water sports on the Guadalupe River.
