Remote Access to Online Resources
Access to licensed databases and electronic journals is limited to UT School of Public Health current students, staff, and faculty. If you wish to access an online resource from home, an office that is not located within the Houston SPH campus, or from a regional campus-- Brownsville, San Antonio, Dallas, or El Paso-- you will need an active UTHSC-H account. (This is the same as your Blackboard, timesheet, and e-mail account for the UTHSC-H.)
If you are not sure if you have an account or you cannot remember your password, contact the Information Services Help Desk.
If you are at a Regional Campus (Dallas, El Paso, San Antonio, or Brownsville), please contact your campus coordinator to get an account.
Remote users will be prompted for their username and password after clicking on a licensed online database or electronic journal. Databases with a globe
are accessible to all users.
Do you work at a hospital or for the military?
If so, then our method of access may not work for you unles you first access the Virtual Private Network (VPN), then access Library resources. It is an extra step but it will allow you full access to all of the resources of the UTSPH library. More information is available from UTSPH IT. Read it before connecting to the VPN.
If you encounter any problems with the databases, ejournals or ebooks, the VPN or the proxy server, please contact or call Helena VonVille (713-500-9131) or contact the Library circulation desk (713-500-9121).
