CLINICAL RESEARCH UNIT & TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH PROGRAM!

 

The Brownsville CCTS CRU is situated in Brownsville, less than a mile from the US/Mexico border.

It is located at the Valley Baptist Brownsville Medical Center.  It is close to the UT School of Public Health Regional Campus, (RAHC), which is located on the host campus or our collaborators,  UTB.  The local population is about 95% Mexican American.

The Brownsville CCTS CRU occupies 2,387 sq.ft and consists of a reception area, 4 examination rooms, kitchen/break room 2 bathrooms, office, conference room and 4 storage rooms.   

There are 2 vans for transporting participants and for field studies.

It is staffed by a meeical director, two nurses and a field team of five

The CCTS Cru in Brownsville has created the Cameron County Hispanic Cohort (CCHC).  This is a cohort of 2000 randomly selected residents, over 95%  of whom are Mexican American.
