U.S. National Institutes of Health John E. Fogarty International Grants and Fellowships in Global Health Sciences
A comprehensive compilation of international funding opportunities in biomedical and behavioral research published by the Fogarty International Center, part of the National Institutes of Health. Funding is available for Education and Training.
USAID's Global Health Fellows Program
The Global Health Fellows Program's (GHFP) vision is to develop a sustainable pool of diverse technical experts committed to strengthening USAID's health leadership and to support effective systems that enable professional development and organizational performance.
The program works to:
- Establish dynamic fellowships and internships
- Develop and sustain a pipeline of diverse technical experts who strengthen USAID's health leadership
- Recruit, place and support interns and fellows at the junior, mid and senior level.
- Implement a Diversity Initiative so that under-represented groups acquire meaningful work experience in global health and build human capital through Foreign Service national exchanges
- Foster professional and organizational development to increase effectiveness and improve USAID global health program results through individual learning and organizational performance improvement. Themes include leadership, management, technical topics and working in the USAID context
SSRC's International Dissertation Research Fellowship Program
The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) supports doctoral students, regarless of US citizenship, conducting dissertation research outside the United States. Fifty Fellowships of apprx $20,000 each will be awarded in 2007 with funds provided by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (http://www.mellon.org) The program is administered by the Social Science Research Council (http://www.ssrc.org) in partnership with teh American Council of Learned Societies (http://www.acls.org ).
The IDRF program is committed to scholarship that advances knowledge about non-US cultures and societies grounded in empirical and site-specific research (involving fieldwork, research in archival or manuscript collections, or quantitative data collection). The program promotes research that is both located in a specific discipline and geographical region and engaged with interdisciplinary and cross-regional perspectives.Fellowships will provide support for nine to twelve months of dissertation research.

International Grants and Fellowships from the National Institute of Health
The National Institutes of Health is one of many public and private organizations across the globe that provide international support for biomedical research and training. Since 1988, the Fogarty International Center has published the Directory of International Grants and Fellowships in the Health Sciences. This directory is a comprehensive compilation of international opportunities in biomedical research.
Founded in 1887, the National Institutes of Health is one of the world's foremost medical research centers and the Federal focal point for medical research in the United States. The NIH, comprising 27 separate Institutes and Centers, is one of eight health agencies of the Public Health Service which, in turn, is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
