Global Health Concentration

"When it comes to global health, there is no 'them'... only 'us.'"

The Global Health Concentration curriculum is intended for any Public Health student interested in exploring how globalization affects health determinants, the health status of the population, and the capacity of nation states to deal with the determinants of health and disease.  The concentration gives students an insider's perspective of public health on an international scale. Several students and faculty members have worked or have current partnerships with various health agencies in countries around the world.

Today's solutions to public health challenges are beyond the capacity of national institutions. They require international collaboration and negotiation through local non-governmental organizations and grassroots action; this endeavor expands upon and complements the more traditional efforts of international health, which tend to focus on how developing countries address their public health issues within their own territory.
