2007 State Employee Charitable Campaign for the School of Public Health and the School of Nursing. Enjoy refreshments and visit with representatives from SECC supported agencies. Dr. Patricia Starck will provide the welcome and Dean Guy Parcel and Keffus Falls, SECC Campaign Chairman, will be the keynote speakers.

Innovations in Health Science Education Conference
Thursday-Friday, October 11th & 12th, 2007, Austin, TX
An annual "Innovations in Health Science Education" conference is sponsored by the six health science campuses within The University of Texas System. The meeting is held in Austin on the first or second Thursday and Friday of October. Each meeting includes nationally-recognized invited speakers together with local participants. Although organized and sponsored by the University of Texas System, all those interested in health science education are invited to attend.

EOHS Research Seminar Series

Zhi-Dong Jiang, MD, will present, “Host-Enteric Microbe Interaction.”  After more than two decades since its rediscovery, a great deal has been learned about the pathophysiology, epidemiology and management of C. difficile associated diarrhea. The focus of this presentation will be on the projects conducted by our C. difficile research team at SPH and SLEH.   Zhi-Dong Jiang, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Center for Infectious Disease at the University of Texas School of Public Health. UTHSC-H Research Day 2007 - SAVE THE DATE!

Task Force on Access to Health Care in Texas

The next meeting of the Task Force on Access to Health Care in Texas will take place in Austin, Texas on the morning of October 22, 2007.  The meeting will be held at the Commons Conference Center, located on the J. J. Pickle Research Campus of The University of Texas at Austin. The Task Force will update you on progress of its 2006 report: CODE RED: The Critical Condition of Health in Texas.

This Task Force public meeting will begin with registration at 8AM, and will conclude by 12:30PM, when the Task Force members will take all issues addressed into consideration and begin their deliberations on those topics raised.

NIH Loan Repayment Program - New Cycle Opening for 2008
The NIH Loan Repayment Program application cycle for fiscal year 2008 is currently open. The deadline for applicants to submit their online application is December 1, 2007.
