NEW INTERLIBRARY LOAN SYSTEM AT THE SPH LIBRARY
On June 2, 2008 the UTSPH Library will be implementing a new system for interlibrary loan (all campuses) and document delivery (regional campuses). The system, called ILLiad, will automate various functions that we currently perform manually. It will speed up the ILL process, thereby reducing the time it takes from when you request an item to when you actually receive it.
ILLiad will require you to create an account; it is not currently linked to the LDAP so your password for timesheets, BlackBoar, e-mail, etc. won't work automatically. You may want to consider using your Ovid or RefWorks username & password if you have an account on either of those. “Understanding and Responding to the Needs of Children After Large-Scale Disasters” is produced by the South Central Center for Public Health Preparedness in partnership with the Alabama Department of Public Health and will be hosted by Robin H. Gurwitch, PhD Professor, Department of Pediatrics University of Oklahoma Health. Faculty will discuss how children may respond to traumatic events, with a focus on CBRNE incidents. Ideas for interventions, including a new model of Psychological First Aid will be presented. Finally, recommendations for preparation considerations will be explored. Standards, Accreditation and Improvement- Raising the Bar of Public Health Performance. The Texas Public Health Training Network will host a satellite broadcast and web cast on information about national and state efforts in accreditation and improvement for health departments. The program will present as a case study conducted at the New Hanover County Health Department in coastal North Carolina and will be moderated by Drs. Edward Baker, director of the North Carolina Institute for Public Health, and Stephanie Coursey, Chief of Public Health Practice at the CDC. Dr. Arnold Schecter, a Board Certified physician in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, is a Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at the Dallas Regional Campus of the University of Texas School of Public Health. RADIATION SAFETY OFFICER COURSE

Presented by the Southwest Center for Occupational & Environmental Health, the RSO Course was developed to provide the information needed for an individual to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control ionizing radiation hazards. The course outline and lectures are organized and designed to meet the established Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DHSH) Radiation Control training requirements for individuals wishing to become Radiation Safety Officers.
