The Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research, under the direction of Dr. Susan Tortolero, conducts research on cancer prevention and control; tobacco use prevention and cessation; drug abuse; sexual risk behaviors; asthma management; physical activity; alcohol abuse; cardiovascular health; youth health behaviors; diabetes; women's health; injury prevention; comprehensive school health; dental health; infectious disease; and obesity.
Sue Sifford
Associate Director of Administration

The Associate Director of Administration is responsible for providing leadership for the administration and resource management functions for CHPPR's research and training activities. This leadership responsibility includes directing the following functions: 1) production of applications; 2) accounting and budget management; 3) personnel administration; 4) resource management; 5) support staff coordination and supervision. The Administration Core is made up of the Associate Director of Administration, staff assistants, administrative assistants, and the Executive Assistant to the Director.

Associate Director of Intervention and Education

The Associate Director of Intervention and Education (I & E) is responsible for providing leadership for the development and application of intervention methods and educational programs for CHPPR's research and training activities. This leadership responsibility includes: 1) guiding core programs and functions; 2) supporting the conceptualization of intervention components for research proposals; 3) facilitating collaboration for intervention development on projects; 4) expanding and improving CHPPR's knowledge-base and capacity for the development of health promotion interventions. The Associate Director is responsible for the Continuing Education Network which offers continuing education courses for public health practitioners on health education and health promotion. The I & E Core is made up of the Associate Director of Intervention and Education, faculty, postdocs, and research staff.
