The Accident Records Bureau is the state repository for motor vehicle
traffic accident records and is charged with the responsibility of maintaining
motor vehicle traffic accident reports, classifying accidents in accordance
with national standards, collecting data from each report, and entering
the information into computer files. This accident records system is the
single most comprehensive information system regarding traffic accidents
in Texas.

Accident Records Bureau: This has moved to a different TX agency which
is in the process of reconciling records and improving the online retrieval
system. The data should be back online by the end of 2008.

traffic crashes that occur each year -- those that result in loss of human
life.

This site is interactive; you can develop maps and retrieve data to look
at deaths by gender and age as well as by disease or cause of death and
year; age-adjusted standards include 1940, 1970, and 2000. Includes deaths
from suicides, homicide, unintentional injuries, and other external causes.
Community
Health Information System (CHIS) Mortality Data (St. Luke's Episcopal
Health Charities; county and some Census tract
level data; 57 counties in SE Texas )
CHIS contains maps that allow you to "drill down", as far as
to the census tract level in some cases but at least
to the county level in all cases, and obtain statistics
on the population of that area. Find major causes of death at the Census
tract level as well as deaths from accidents.

The most complete data sets are 2001-2004; 2005 and 2006 are still preliminary.

Injury

Create maps of the state showing each county's ranking in comparison with
US data. Includes mortality by: drowning, homicide, firearms, falls, poisoning,
suicide, traumatic brain injury, motor vehicle accidents, and fire. Unfortunately,
the data is for the entire 10 years, i.e. you cannot select an individual
year to view data.
