Guy Parcel is past director of the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research. He is former Dean, professor of behavioral sciences and pediatrics and John P. McGovern Professor in Health Promotion at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, School of Public Health.
He conducts research to develop and evaluate effective school-based health-promotion programs for children and youth. The author or co-author of more than 100 professional papers, Guy received the 1990 William A. Howe Award from the American School Health Association, for outstanding contributions and distinguished service in school health.
With Drs. Bartholomew, Kok, and Gottlieb, Guy is co-author of the recently published textbook, Intervention Mapping: Designing theory- and evidence-based health promotion programs (Mayfield Publishing).
