A variety of tools are used to develop web
sites and applications. These include:
Web-based online applications for comprehensive
data entry, management, and randomization use a three-tier
architecture and the .NET Framework technology. This includes
ASP.NET, ADO.NET, and Visual Studio.NET, along with Javascript
and C#. There is a large library of classes, style sheets,
and templates which make for a rapid application development
(RAD) environment.
Other web applications use ColdFusion to
produce dynamic web pages generated from Microsoft
SQL Server data.
Most web sites and pages are designed and
produced with Dreamweaver. This product's use of templates,
library items, and cascading style sheets makes it easy
to create pages that have common features and to globally
change
major design elements of web sites. It also
contains outstanding site management tools.
Some sites containing static pages have
been developed with FrontPage.
Many files, including Word and PowerPoint
slides, have been converted to Acrobat. Acrobat preserves
the visual display and print format of documents. It
requires that a freely available program, Acrobat Reader,
be installed on each user's computer, but eliminates
the need for users to install a copy of
the native application.
Graphics and graphical menus are created
using either Photoshop or Fireworks. Photos and image
files are usually processed with Photoshop; the images
are rendered for use on the web with Fireworks.
We have the capability of using
Flash animation.
This tool analyzes the log files of the
file requests made by web browsers and provides detailed
reports. The reports include the following types of information:
- number of hits
- number users
- length of time users stayed on the site
- megabytes downloaded
- most
requested pages and files,
- search engines that directed users
to the
site.
