Ford
Received his Ph.D. in Biometry
from The University of
Texas School of Public Health at Houston in 1986. He is a Fellow of the American
Heart Association Council
on Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention. He
is a member of
the American
Statistical Association , the Society
for Clinical Trials , and the Institute
of Mathematical Statistics .
Dr. Ford has an extensive publication record in clinical
trials research. He is a Co-Investigator for ALLHAT and
served on the ALLHAT Quality Control Committee, Scientific
and Educational Programs Committee, and Publications
Committee. He coordinated the activities of the ALLHAT
Support Centers
and oversaw randomization, drug distribution, biochemical
laboratory analysis, and ECG reading. He is the Co-Principal
Investigator for the GENHAT study
and was a Co-Investigator in the HDFP study.
In addition, he is the Principal Investigator for several
ancillary and follow-up studies conducted
at the CCCT and sponsored by the National
Institutes of Health (NIH) and
the pharmaceutical industry. He has participated in all
phases
of clinical trials research, from initial study design
to reporting trial results, and has served on data and
safety
monitoring committees for the National Institutes of
Health.
