Health Status of Children

This presentation outlines the status of children's health. It includes data from national studies on children's nutritional, and physical activity habits and their influence on chronic disease. It illuminates the critical state of childhood obesity and provides a rationale for coordinated school health programming.

CATCH Overview

This presentation is an overview of the CATCH program from its beginning as the nation's largest school-based health study to its current state. The four component areas of the CATCH Program are outlined.

CATCH Middle School Program
This presentation is an overview of the CATCH Middle School program. CATCH Middle School is a program designed to promote physical activity and healthy food choices. CATCH employs a holistic approach to child health by targeting multiple aspects of the school environment and involving classroom teachers, school food service staff, physical education (PE) teachers, students’ families, and the broader school community in a range of health promoting activities. Evaluation of CATCH in Middle School has demonstrated effects in reducing TV viewing, increasing physical activity, and healthy food consumption.
