We offer a variety of different training workshops. We will be happy to discuss with you a CATCH Training that best suits your needs. Please email our Training Coordinator, Karen Doramus-Burnell, or contact us at 1-866-346-6163.


CATCH IMPLEMENTATION TRAINING

Title: CATCH Implementation Training
Length: 1 day
Participants: Each campus is required to send a delegation consisting of the following team members:
• 1 Classroom Teacher (preferably 3rd grade)
• 1 Physical Education Teacher
• 1 Food Service Manager
Other team members are strongly encouraged, such as administrators, parents, school nurse,
counselor, additional grade level teachers, community representatives (e.g., local health
department personnel, health association representatives, etc.).

CATCH Implementation Training is an interactive, hands-on workshop which blends the knowledge and practical skills necessary to implement the CATCH Program. Training covers the rationale and need for improving children’s health, an overview of the CATCH Program, component specific training using the CATCH materials, and strategic planning for successful implementation. As a result of this training, participants will:
• Become familiar with the CATCH Program and all its components.
• Identify how CATCH can be used as a means to improve the health of children.
• Utilize effective implementation strategies and instructional best practices.
• Commit to concrete actions which support program implementation.

CATCH ORIENTATION

Title: CATCH Orientation Presentation
Length: Half-day
Participants: Campus & District Administrators, Campus Personnel, Parents,
Community Partners, Local Health Representatives, etc.

CATCH Orientation outlines the health status of children, rationale for improving children’s health and an overview of the CATCH Program.

COMPONENT SPECIFIC WORKSHOPS

Title: CATCH Physical Education - Elementary
Length: Half-day or Full-day
Participants: Elementary PE Specialists, PE Aides, etc.

Title: CATCH Physical Education - Secondary
Length: Half-day or Full-day
Participants: Secondary PE Specialists, PE Aides, etc.

Title: CATCH Eat Smart Workshop
Length: Half-day
Participants: Child Nutrition Personnel (Directors, Dieticians, Food Service Managers, etc.)

Title: CATCH Go For Health Classroom Workshop
Length: Half-day
Participants: Classroom Teachers, Curriculum Directors, Instructional Leaders

Title: CATCH Administrator Workshop
Length: Half-day or Full-day
Participants: District Administrators, Principals, Assistant Principals, Curriculum Directors
Instructional Leaders, etc.

BOOSTER TRAININGS

Title: All-Component Booster
Length: Half-day or Full-day
Participants: CATCH Campus Team Members

Title: CATCH PE Booster - Elementary
Length: Half-day
Participants: Elementary PE Specialists, PE Aides, etc.

Title: CATCH PE Booster - Secondary
Length: Half-day
Participants: Secondary PE Specialists, PE Aides, etc.

Title: CATCH Eat Smart Booster
Length: Half-day

EVALUATION TRAINING

Title: CATCH Evaluation
Length: 2 days
Participants: School and School District Personnel, University Personnel, etc.

CATCH Evaluation Training includes the use of SOFIT to collect data on physical activity in PE classes, implementation of the School Health Index, and instruction on survey administration.

RECREATION AND AFTER SCHOOL TRAINING

Title: CATCH Kids Club (CKC)
Length: Half-day or full-day
Participants: Health Fitness Directors, Child Care Directors, Multi-Site Coordinators
Part Time Child Care Workers, etc.

CATCH Kids Club Training orients participants to the CATCH Kids Club Program blending a variety of interactive techniques that both teach and demonstrate strategies for effective implementation. Participants utilize the CATCH Kids Club materials, actively participate in activities, and subsequently use this framework to strategically plan how their programs can better guide youth in the process of being physically active for a lifetime.

Title: CATCH Rec
Length: Half-day or full-day
Participants: Recreation Center Directors, Recreational Leaders, Part Time Recreational Staff, etc.

CATCH Rec Training includes an overview of the CATCH Recreation Program and hands on participation in a variety of CATCH Rec games and activities. Participants will utilize the CATCH Rec materials to learn how activity time can be increased in recreational settings and strategically plan how their programs can increase youth participation in physical activity.
