Experience Austin
The Austin Experience offers students a very intimate 2:1 student to instructor ratio. Students will be able to become involved in realistic community interactions through academic research in immediate public health concerns such as obesity, diabetes, tobacco control, health promotion, health economics, and public policy. These realistic community interactions also give our students the hands-on experiences of working within a diverse culture and community. Here in the Capitol of Texas our students can be exposed to day-to-day legislation and policy issues related to child health while at the same time being able to engage in solid and realistic scientific research and solutions available through 21st century technologies and resources through the Health Science Center at Houston. In proximity to The University of Texas at Austin, students will be accessible to world renowned faculty, academic departments, centers and institutes, academic libraries, and outstanding museums. The University of Texas at Austin’s library system is the nation’s fifth-largest academic library and is one of the top 10 research libraries in the nation.
In addition to the unique educational and research opportunities, Austin Regional Campus students will be able to enjoy personal rewards in an area of Central Texas rarely seen in the national spotlight. Austin, Texas is known as the Live Music Capital of the World® because live music can be found everywhere, every day and night. From our airport, to our city hall in our grocery stores and in our parks, and of course on any given night, you can walk into one of Austin’s 191 live music venues. Hill Country is an easy 30-minute drive west, linking to the beautiful rolling hills of Central Texas. This area of Texas averages a temperature around 93 degrees in the summer months and a comfortable 60 degrees throughout the winter months.
