Master of Public Health (offered beginning Fall 2008)
The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is the basic professional degree in the field. It is required for many supervisory and managerial positions in public health and is recommended for many others. Students in the general MPH program complete a series of core requirement courses that cover the breadth of public health and electives courses from any of the 5 public health discipline areas. They may also take elective courses offered in Austin and other UTSPH campuses.

Core Requirements for MPH Students:
The following courses satisfy the MPH core public health discipline requirement. Where more than one course is listed, the student is expected to choose one of the options listed.
Biostatistics:
PH 1610 Introduction to Biostatistics
PH 1725 Intermediate Biostatistics I (regularly offered at the Houston campus only)
PH 1726 Intermediate Biostatistics I (regularly offered at the Houston campus only)
PH 1725 and PH 1726 must be taken in a sequence; one course alone does not satisfy the core requirement.
PH 1725 and PH 1726 are required core courses for M.P.H. majors in the Biostatistics Division.
Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences:
