UTSPH Academic Programs

The University of Texas School of Public Health (UTSPH) is comprised of five divisions, offering graduate education in various areas of public health.  In addition to degree programs leading to MPH, MS, DrPH, and PHD degrees, UTSPH offers several non-degree programs including a Certificate in Public Health, a 16-hour program of study consisting of five courses covering the core disciplines of public health.

  1. Biostatistics focuses on the study of statistical, mathematical, and computer methods applied to the biological and health sciences.
  2. Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences deals with the identification and assessment of potentially harmful physical, chemical, and biological agents the environment and the development of programs to prevent or alleviate problems associated with them.
  3. Epidemiology and Disease Control is a fundamental science of public health and preventive medicine with a major focus on the causes and prevention of disease.
  4. Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences seeks to improve problems of human disease and disability through changes in lifestyle behaviors and aspects of the social environment.
  5. Management, Policy and Community Health provides instruction in fields such as health economics, health policy, health law, health management and administration and public health leadership.
