Dietetic Internship Program
Goals and Outcome Measures
GOAL 1: To prepare individuals to become professional dietitians through a sound and comprehensive educational and experiential program by meeting the DI Program’s required competency statements of entry-level dietetic education programs for the supervised practice component in community, management and medical nutrition therapy dietetics practice.
Outcome Measure 1.1: 100% completion of the core and specified emphasis area Competency Statements for Entry-Level Dietitians by each graduating dietetic intern.
Outcome Measure 1.2: The dietetic intern will score 80% or greater on all learning outcomes to advance in the DI Program.
Outcome Measure 1.3: 90% of the Dietetic Interns will complete the DI Program.
Outcome Measure 1.4: At least 80% of DI Program graduates from UTSPH sitting for the Registration Examination for Dietitians will successfully pass the exam on the first attempt.
Outcome Measure 1.5: 85% of the graduates from the Program will be employed in the dietetics field one year from the time of graduation from the Dietetic Internship Program.
Outcome Measure 1.6: 75% or more of the DI Program graduates will maintain their RD status after two years from the time of graduation.
Outcome Measure 1.7: 80 % of the employers returning the Employer of UTSPH DI Program Graduate Survey will state that they would hire another graduate from our Program.
Outcome Measure 1.8: 80% of the employers returning the Employer of UTSPH DI Program Graduate Survey will rate the graduates from our DI Program with a 3 (satisfactory) or greater score on specified professional competencies.
GOAL 2: To provide an environment conducive to the development of professional attitudes, maturity of judgment and a thorough understanding of and commitment to ethical practice as demonstrated in the interns’ supervised practice rotations.
Outcome Measure 2.1: The first core competency statement for the SP Component: “CD1. Perform in accordance with the Code of Ethics for the Profession of Dietetics” is expected to be met (100%) by each dietetic intern in each Supervised Practice rotation.
GOAL 3: To maintain a balanced and integrated program through collaboration between University faculty, clinical and health care professionals and the community so the students in the Advanced Degree and Dietetic Internship Program complete both their advanced degree and the dietetic internship program successfully.
Outcome Measure 3.1: 80% of the students in the Advanced Degree and Dietetic Internship Program will complete their advanced degree at the UTSPH.
