Support Overview
|
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing
that ever has." - Margaret
Mead |
Modifying a child's behavior often means changing the
environment the child lives in. Implementing the four components of CATCH
will lead to an environmental change in your school such as:
- your school community becomes more aware of their
eating and physical activity behaviors.
- meals in the cafeteria become more nutritious.
- opportunities to be physically active increase.
- parents will be visiting the school, wanting to
know why their children are coming home with suggestions on how to plan
and prepare healthier meals.
- student work displayed throughout the school demonstrates
children are learning about how to be healthy.
Planning and supporting implementation training
is the first step in changing your school's environment. Supporting CATCH
and the growth of your coordinated school health program becomes even
more important following implementation training - because that's when
the real work begins. Yet, it doesn't have to be a difficult. Establishing
a process that "sets everyone up to succeed" is the key. Make sure to visit our Research and Instructional Library for Handouts, PowerPoint Presentations, and other materials that will help you implement the CATCH program at your school.
